Express Entry

Express Entry is an online system that IRCC uses to manage applications for permanent residence for skilled workers. Express Entry is a selection process introduced by the Canadian government to expedite the permanent resident application process for four (4) immigration programs:

• Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
• Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
• Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and specific
• Provincial Nominee Programs

Each of these programs has its unique eligibility requirements.

(Please note that you are not eligible for this program if you plan on living in Quebec) 

It is a two-step online process based on a ranking system. To qualify under Express Entry stream, first, the candidate has to create an online profile and enter the pool to compete with other candidates. The system performs an assessment based on candidate’s profile. Candidates’ profile is ranked using a system called Comprehensive Ranking System. Periodically, a number of highest ranked applicants are invited to apply for permanent residence. Once the process is completed, candidates who are successful are given the opportunity to migrate to Canada with their spouse and dependents.
